What is “Menocore” as How Does it Pertain to You?

For  every new season I try to visualize the look that I want to have achieve.  This year for Fall I was thinking of a more monochromatic style a fitted to the body silhouette.  It’s slimming and I cut my hair into a short pixie look and I would like to have a slender look to go along with my small frame.  My thinking was that it would be an easier look to pull off and put together in the crazy harried mornings when I am putting together a last minute outfit while trying to stay on schedule with my bus!  If it sounds difficult , you’re right it is.  So my thinking was along the lines of looking chic while not having to try to coordinate different looks together and coordinating colors.  I envisioned my look to be slim fitting pants, ribbed turtlenecks (even though turtlenecks annoy me), but it’s a put together look and keep the color scheme in the same family, so I appear taller and slender.  Also, let me say that I am 57 and soon to be 58, and although I love all kinds of fashion lately I struggle with “Is this too young for me?” syndrome.  I am always complimented at work for my outfits, but I can’t help but wonder if they are truly age appropriate and does that really matter anyway.

So while going through some of the fashion blogs that I follow, my eye catches a title which says,

Of course I need to read this blog because it is talking about age, but it’s also referencing wealth, and what is this word they use “Menocore” ?  Of course my first place of research is google which brings me back to this same blog.  I am forced to read.

Basically it is talking about the exact same thing I was thinking about when planning my new Fall wardrobe.  How can I simplify, look stylish, keep up with trends, and yet make it an easy look that can be worn over and over and still look good.  Hence the term “Monocore”  Although the look they are talking about if quite different than what they are a talking about because they also talk comfort, and that was one word that didn’t come into thought when I was thinking about my new look, but now that they mentioned it, yeah why not comfort too!

Vintage'sFashions

If you are like me and love to wear unique clothing and accessories, if you enjoy standing apart from the crowd with your own individualized style and enjoy find one-of-kind clothing that no one else will be wearing, then you might very well be on your way to becoming a passionate collector of vintage.  Buying antique clothing is one way of owning a piece of history and learning how vintage fashion is defined in the process. The beauty of finding that rare treasured dress or skirt or blouse could be extravagant as it being adorned with beads, sequins or embroidery.  Or, it may be unadorned but made with a special fabric that you would not find on contemporary styles of today. When you buy vintage, you are actually purchasing a piece of history.  Think about it.  Who wore that garment that you now own?  For what occasion was it worn?  What did the wearer look like? Perhaps she was sneaking off to a private rendezvous in the dress you now own.  Your...

What's in Sasy's Closet Today?

Well hello folks!  I have some great Vintage Summer Fun Hats to show you that I think you are going to love.  Hats to me are such a statement of being confident enough to pull it off.  I just loved the #royalwedding fashion that we saw last week.  #Megan Markle can wear any hat and look beautiful and mostly it's because she is a woman who is extremely comfortable in her own skin and it shows. The women in attendance of the #royalwedding all exuded confidence in the style and grace.  Hats are the added accessory that just completes a great outfit, and says  to the world "Hey, look at me, I am a confident woman" Well I have always loved wearing hats for statement dating back to the late 70's I went on a first date with a boy from Bensonhurst Brooklyn wearing a cool News Boy Cap.  My friend Leonora and I went shopping at Saks Fifth Avenue for clothing for that date, and I saw this awesome hat that I knew I had to wear to comple...
